Mid Century Jungle

Guys! This project was so so fun. I got to create the most fun nursery for a little guy and I love it so. I would 100% move right in... just switch the crib to a bed and I am good to go.

Spindle Crib, Map, Nursery

We wanted to create this space that would grow with the baby boy inhabitant and not be stuck in baby mode when he starts to toddle. With a few simple changes this space is sure to keep up with the transition from baby to toddler to full blown boy.

In the first meeting about this space, it was determined that there needed to be elements of mid century style and the only type of "theme" that would be accepted would be animal related... and I was so on board.

I had been waiting and waiting to use Clarence House Fabric's Congo print for ages and knew that this would be the perfect space for it.

Clarence House Congo Blues

So with these three things we set off to create our mood board.

Mood board

From, there the space started to come together.

Giraffe, Congo Blues, Clarence House, Moroccan Ottoman

We used this Dwell Studio Moroccan Leather ottoman to add the perfect masculine touch to the space.

This Pottery Barn Kids Giraffe keeps watch over the toy basket.

Moroccan Ottoman, Fabricut Kermessee Splash

Fabricut's Kermesee Splash was the perfect playful stripe to tie our color scheme together in a subtle way. We chose this marble topped table with an imbed agate and mod lines for a place to perch a bottle or book by the chair.

Midcentury, Dresser, Polka Dot Lamp,

This mid century dresser was found at a vintage shop in Asheville and we found this abstract umbrella painting to bring blue to the wall across from the crib.

This lamp. This stinking, polka dot lamp. It kills me every time. One of my favorites ever.

I found this basket on sale at Anthropologie a while back, but they have so many cute ones right now and linked is one with a tassel. You know, I'll go for anything with a tassel on it.

Monogram

Who doesn't love a big monogram. I know I can't turn one down. We popped this one onto this fringed pillow that adds some color to the crib when it's not in use, can be thrown on the floor for story time, and will certainly be perfect on a bed in a few years.

Giraffe, Clarence House, Congo Blues

For the windows, we used Clarence House Congo Blues for the roman shade and layered that with gray panels to blend with the wall color. On the walls we used Sherwin Williams Worldly Gray, which I am determined might be one of the best wall colors of all time.

Clarence House Congo Blues

This Ikea faux sheep skin rug adds texture and defines the space around the rocker. The simple lamp for reading ties the other metal tones in the room together.

This is big sis Stella and she loves this room almost as much as her tennis ball and I love her.

Also, If I am ever going to offer any advice about a nursery it is to make a custom crib skirt. Never have I ever found one in a store that hangs right and works with all the stages of crib height. This one can be folded and tucked under when the crib is lowered. and because there are large panels of fabric, when the crib skirt isn't needed anymore the fabric can easily be made into pillows for the bed.

Sputnik Light

This light. Let me just talk about this light for a few. We were in  so many different directions on what should hang here and when I got a text one night with the link to this from my client, I almost died. It is too good.

Seriously... toooooo good.

Reading Nook

Tonic Living's Lulu Leopard fabric is one of my favorite prints of all time and it was the perfect way to add in an animal print without getting too feminine for this all boy space. It also added a punch to this family rocker that had been passed down and painted for the new nursery.

The coziest nook to rock and read.

We styled the bookcases with books, photos, vintage finds, and other fun boy things. You know, lions, and tigers, and bears, and shoes, and octopuses, and pups. Those sorts of things.

I found vintage goodies from a few of my favorite vintage sellers in Greenville to accent the room. The red basket is from Found and that precious ship picture is from Grey Street Market who both sell at Cottage Grove Vintage

And this is me loving on Stella pup, because she is best and I can't help myself. I loved on the baby too... I promise.

Peace out, friends!
